“I think you already know,” Syria replied, without missing a beat.
Alessandra raised her eyebrows and turned to her friends with a knowing look. “The gardener, right?”
“Exactly, ma’am.”
“Ma’am?” Alessandra laughed in her face for a solid five seconds. “Instead of ma’am, I strongly prefer ‘boss’, and you can drop the formalities.”
Syria slowly ground her jaw. “As you wish, boss.”
